Week 9

By: Nick Collins ‘15

Game of the Week: Kittle Me This (Tyler) 109 vs Can’t Guard Mike (Taylor) 84

In this week’s Pink Whitney Game of the Week, it featured two very competitive teams. Tyler comes away with a huge victory in large part due to the performance of Tyreek Hill. He is now 6–3 and finds himself atop the tightly packed west division. 3 wins in a row for Tyler is matched by 3 losses in a row for Taylor. Injuries for Taylor might finally be taking its toll on his team. It is now clear Tyler could be amongst the favorites to win his first title, can you riddle that?

Next- Tyler vs Michael, Taylor vs DJ

Saving Matt Ryan (Jackson) 189 vs Not Bad for a Running Back (DJ) 90

Speaking of favorites, this man’s odds have to be the best in the league. A potential league scoring record was on the table Sunday until Gronk couldn’t perform. None the less Jackson is this week’s top scorer with an immaculate 189 points. DJ never had a chance this week as he lost by 1-point shy of 100. It’s not Matt Ryan doing the damage, but Jackson’s team comes at you with great running backs and talented receivers. He is now the class of the league sitting at 7–2. DJ’s season hangs in the balance and the former champ needs to get something going quick before it’s too late.

Next- Jackson vs Konnor, DJ vs Taylor

Josh’s Football Team (Josh) 120 vs The Sober Gophers (Joey) 111

In a game closer than many expected, we saw Josh hang on against one of his rivals Joey. These two don’t like each other and this only added fuel to the fire. Joey’s season is now in the books and can only hope to avoid the dreaded Jamokus Jones Bowl. For Josh, his playoff hopes are still very imminent and his football team knows that. The Sober Gophers will be checking into AA after this season.

Next- Josh vs Eric, Joey vs Brady

.Rogo (Eric) 148 vs Dirty Mike and the Boys (Michael) 115

Eric beats the out-of-towner this week comfortably. Another great performance by Davante Adams helps his team out greatly. For Michael, his team is out of the playoffs at the moment. Eric is also not in the playoffs currently, but only sits a game back. Dirty Mike and his boys might be ending the season early if they keep performing like this. There’s not much else to say here but congrats to Eric.

Next- Eric vs Josh, Michael vs Tyler

Alvin and the Chipmunks (Brady) 137 vs St. Louis Blue Bands (Konnor) 103

In our final matchup of the week, it’s the Blue Bands not cashing in. The Chipmunks sail to victory in a game of former roommates. Konnor’s team just didn’t have it this week, and Brady got a good performance from Deshaun Watson. Arguably the most consistent league member, Konnor, still sits in a good spot for a playoff run. He’s chasing his first title still after coming so close many times. A big win for Brady has his eyes still set on defending his title.

Next- Brady vs Joey, Konnor vs Jackson

Good, Bad, and Ugly

The Good

  • Dalvin Cook, RB, Vikings

For the third time this year, and second consecutive week, Dalvin Cook finds this list. We are about to give the man his own section after the performances he has been laying out there. Helping Jackson cruise to victory by scoring 44 points, Cook was once again cooking. “Wishful thinking guy” was what Jackson called Dalvin during the draft. Jackson also had this to say on Cooks outstanding season, ”He’s been spectacular. An absolute fantasy nightmare for some teams I face. A run heavy offense, a contract year for him, and the departure of Diggs gave him just a little extra love in the pass game…Dalvin has been nothing short of amazing so far”. If Dalvin keeps putting up these numbers, can anyone stop Jackson? We don’t think so.

  • DJ Chark Jr, WR, Jaguars

Now a name we do not see on here often, it is Jaguar wide receiver DJ Chark Jr. A big performance Sunday helped Rogo secure a victory over Michael. Chark had 7 catches for 146 yards and 1 touchdown. He matched Davante Adams fantasy point value at 33, both guys were started by Eric. It was nice to see someone else step up for Eric, but consistency could be an issue with Chark. For now, however, it was a great week for the Jaguars top target.

  • Christian McCaffrey, RB, Panthers

Welcome back run CMC. It has been a while since we have said this man’s name, but here he is. Scoring 36 fantasy points in his first week back was a sight to see for none other than Jackson. No one on Jacksons team could do wrong this week, and McCaffrey was no exception. This had to hurt Brady, who traded him to Jackson several weeks back. The Leagues number one overall pick is showing he is deserving of that title.

The Bad

  • Le’Veon Bell, RB, Chiefs

Alright I lied, previously I said we would stop mentioning Joey’s team, but here we are. After this terrible performance from former superstar Le’Veon Bell, Joey is back in our thoughts. Several years ago this man was unstoppable, but we don’t live in the past. Bell is now no more than a free agent in the fantasy world. Why Joey played him is beside me, but he will get to put Kareem Hunt back in next week. Thanks again Joey for the laugh.

  • Phillip Lindsay, RB, Broncos

Like Joey, Michael finds a player on his team back where they belong. Lindsay had 2 fantasy points for Michael this week, resulting in a Blaha loss. We are hoping Michael makes a move to fix his second running back position, because 2 points won’t get it done.

  • Tom Brady, QB, Buccaneers

What little hope Konnor had of winning Sunday night vanished after the game that Tom Brady played. Arguably the greatest player in NFL history is well past his prime. A dismal 2-point performance helps hand Konnor a loss this week. The commish, a big Gardner Minshew fan, was without Minshew this week due to injury. Brady helped Brady beat the Commish. Benching Tom Brady sounds crazy, but not in the fantasy world, so that’s where we expect him to be next week.

The Ugly

  • David Johnson, RB, Texans

Johnson got hit hard Sunday afternoon, resulting in a concussion for the Texan running back. Brady was still able to win despite Johnson having 1 point before his departure. He will need to go through concussion protocols before he returns to action, but that shouldn’t be too long.

  • Christian McCaffrey, RB, Panthers

Above we saw McCaffrey had 36 points this week. It wasn’t all sunshine and daises however, after McCaffrey was seen holding his ribs. He took a shot late in the game resulting in a scare for the Panthers superstar. We do not expect this to impact his appearance in next week’s game, but it is something to monitor.
