Before 11:47 PM ET last night, I had no idea this play even occurred on Sunday. Had I seen it, I still would have not guessed that it would eventually lead to a one point fantasy victory.
Going into the final Monday Night game, DJ only needed Dalton Schultz to get 7 points to tie myself and get the W off bench points. Well… Dalton Schultz indeed got the 7 points, and only 7 points. I went to bed a little grouchy, and knowing I had to wake up at 6:30 this morning to go in and teach 20–23 year olds how to roll a ball underhand did not help the cause. I then receive a call from DJ to check in on how I was doing. Just uncalled for.
9 minutes later moods would be reversed.
Yeah I know what y’all are thinking 100–99, that both of our teams are cheeks. Well the average score this week was 107 so calm down. But yes, neither of us had a damn clue why the hell DJ lost that point. Well the ESPN app made a silly. Turns out DJ’s own running back Miles Sanders, who had just broken off a 70 yard run, fumbles at the 10. He was only 5 yards away from a bonus tuddy and a fantasy victory! Instead his fumble is recovered by Hassan Whiteside in the endzone which would be the first 6 points of 28 points (-1 fantasy points) allowed by DJ’s Ravens D/ST. At the time nobody blinked an eye… but when the app fixed its silly and changed the score I could not keep my eyes off it. Probably watched that video a good 10 times, giggling every time, refreshed the score a good 50 times to make sure it did not change again. And then I was finally able to fall asleep and wake up to a 100–99 winner, and a 5–1 first place record.
I called him back a little after the scoring change to check on him… he hung up right away:/ Have not heard from him since but I truly do hope he woke up this morning and had a miserable day at work because that’s just the way it is.
